Welcome Mrs McAven
Today we had a special assembly to welcome Mrs McAven. She was Mrs Hunt last term and she teaches in Room C. She got married in the holidays. Every Primary class made something special for her. She was walked up the aisle to some bridal music, confetti was thrown and gifts were given. We also prayed for her and her new family. We love celebrating!!!!
Changing Things - Balloon Bottle
In Science, we are learning about changing things and what happens when we mix things. We mixed baking soda and vinegar in a bottle. The mixture made a gas and blew up a balloon - very cool! We learnt that the gas is called carbon dioxide (co2).

Kitchen Chemistry - mixing
Today we started learning about making new things by mixing. We made 'Indoor snow' by mixing cornflour and shaving foam.
We added the shaving foam a bit at a time and mixed it well.
Eventually it changed from soft cornflour and wet shaving foam into hard and mouldable 'indoor snow'.
It wasn't like the cornflour or the shaving foam but was a new mixture.

Kitchen Science - Changing Butter
Today we did our first "experiment". We tried to change butter. We spread it on bread and we melted it in the microwave. We found out that it is still butter. Lewis knew that melted butter is a liquid. We also wrote up our experiment properly like real scientists.

Term 4 - Kitchen Science
Welcome back to school!
This term we are learning about changing things in Kitchen Science. Today we talked about what is a scientist and why they wear white coats. We went to see Mrs Willard in the school Science Lab. She told us that scientists wear white coats to keep clean. We then came back to the classroom and made our own scientist.
