Worm Farm Creating

On Wednesday Room A and B went to the Bromley Eco Depot and learned all about worms.
There are three different types of worms - compost worms, these ones live in the compost above ground. Earthworms live just below the surface and help by digging holes that allows water to move about in the garden. Native Deep Soil worms live deep down in the soil and can grow really big.

We got to dig in the dirt and found over 100 earthworms.

Then we got about creating our own worm farms.

We will bring our worm farms back to school in a week or so and add the worms to our school worm farm. It will be exciting to be able to compost and reuse our food waste at school.

Room B Handwriters

There are seven children in Room B who are such amazing Handwriters that they have moved into lined books. Instead of just practising lower case letters they are writing on lines and writing words as well. Aren't they fantastic!!

Samuel's Cart

Samuel was very clever making this car out of the natural materials.

Room A Buddies - 40 Hour Famine

Last week Room A worked with our Room F buddies to build shelters out of newspaper. It helped us remember that lots of people in the world don't live in good houses. The 40 hour famine raises money to help people in other countries. This year the money raised is going to Malawai.

Art with the parents

Today we were very thankful for all the parents who came to help with our weaving art.

It was a bit tricky but with all the parents it was manageable!

Our almost finished pots... Next art session we will decorate them.

World Vision Activity

Today our big buddies from Room K came and built shelters with us. Many children don't have houses like we do and some have to build their own from things they find.

We built our shelters out of newspaper, sellotape and string. Our shelter had to cover both the Room B buddy and the Room K buddy at the same time to be successful.

Some of the finished shelters...

Mr Keith

Today Mr Keith came to Rooms A and B to talk about rubbish and recycling. We had some questions to ask him

Then we went for a walk down to Mr Keith's area at the back of the school. We peeked into his sheds and we saw the bits and pieces he saves to recycle around the school.

We found some piles of wood - using things again!

We also saw the skip where all the rubbish goes.

Making Milo

Today we made milo and tasted it. Then we wrote about making milo. We had to think about what we needed to make milo and how to do it carefully.
